Using the Zoo-phonics program your child will experience a lifetime learning tool that is the beginning building blocks to reading!

HOT will instruct phonetical understanding of the English language. Parents/Guardians receive valuable coaching that can be reinforced at home for continued literacy progression; between you and your child!!!

Zoo-phonics is a complete language arts program that teaches using a cast of 26 Animal/Letter characters, using a whole-brain, kinesthetic approach. Zoo-phonics locks letter shapes and sounds into your child's memory through body movements called "Signals." Research has shown that "when the body moves, the brain remembers."

We welcome our future parents/guardians to COME & SIT-IN on an occasional session, to SEE learn how we implement Zoo-phonics with your child!  Learn all about the animals that will bring reading to life for children!

Become a member & check-out the additional program materials, program discounts, event savings, and so much more! that can be used to further enhance your child's reading ability through the participation and use of Zoo-phonics

How do some other literacy programs compare...

A tutor would teach 4 letters at a time, Q, R, S, T. The child is taught both capital and lowercase letters at the same time for these letters. They teach a letter and its sound, a lesson, 3 days a week only. So it will take 2 weeks to teach just these sets of letters to your child with regular scheduling. There are 26 letters in the alphabet, so it will take 10 weeks to teach the whole alphabet!

ZOO TEACHES THE ALPHABET IN 3 DAYS TO 2 WEEKS (2 weeks is expected mastery level). That's all it takes to learn the shapes, signals and sounds of the letters.

Another program teaches the alphabet, 1 letter at a time, letter name, capital etc., then moves to teaching phonics with no bridge between developing sound recognition and sound blending. Then, the child has listening tapes and flip cards so s/he reads verbatim: at, bat, fat, cat, hat, etc. But this is memory work, not sound blending.

Zoo-phonics is the only program using whole-brain, kinesthetic learning... eyes, ears, mouth and body!

The problem with the alphabet and learning how to read and spell is that it is too abstract. So we made it concrete! Toddlers and preschoolers are so ready for learning, but parents often wait for the school to begin the literacy process, missing years of precious time. Researchers are telling parents, "Teach your children; their brains are ready!" However, you cannot teach young children through abstract methods and materials - they do not understand abstractions. Make it concrete, however, and there is no limit to what they can learn. Their neurons are making pathways like GA highways!

Children with Special Needs

While Zoo-phonics has been very successful in teaching the gifted program, regular education, immersion and bilingual classes, etc., you should know that Zoo-phonics was born in a self-contained special education class.

Testimonials and program research prove how effective zoo-phonic is, along with many letters and phone calls through the years telling of how it has benefited children with very special needs. Besides developmental delays, ADHD and dyslexia, HOT reads and personally can attest to the success zoo-phonics has on children. Having being told of children who, have been diagnosed as Autistic and have gotten their first sounds through Zoo-phonics. A little boy who had to be lifted to the carpet each day for Zoo-phonics practice got the first movement of his leg one day when they got to Kayo Kangaroo who "gives a kick." We could go on, and on, and on!

Homeschoolers

Our society is capital letter and letter name entrenched. The problem is that we use capital letters only 5% of the time and then only for specific reasons (in a name, to begin a sentence, etc.). The same goes for letter names. We never say "double u" (w), or "ache" (h), "el" (l), "em" (m), etc., when reading. Traditionally, capital letters and letter names are always taught first. This is incidental (important, but incidental) information not immediately needed for beginning the reading, spelling and writing process. Let's hit the bull's eye with relevant instruction and we will maximize children's learning!

Testimonials:

"The Zoo-phonics Program fully involves the child's eyes, ears, mouth and body as they learn phonemic awareness, the alphabet and how to decode (read) and encode (spell/write)."

"Zoo-phonics is so playful. Watch baby animals as they play. They are in constant motion as they wrestle, jump, roll, snarl, yip and growl. This is important preparation for adulthood. The same goes for children. They're in constant motion and they love to make noise. So let's use what is natural for them and channel it for learning! If they are moving, they have fun and they are processing information through this important movement and sound production!"

"Zoo-phonics has a strong parent component because we know that training parents to help their children is crucial. Parents bond with their children as they "play" Zoo-phonics. No longer is there a power-struggle with homework! Says Program Specialist, Sally Mathers of Great Falls, Montana, "Parents are no longer threatened when asked to help their children with homework."

"Teachers love Zoo-phonics because students learn quickly, without stress, and retain what they learn. Zoo-phonics brings fun and excitement into learning thus motivating them."

"Zoo-phonics fosters success by helping children feel good about their reading, spelling and writing ability. No child slips between the cracks! School is a good place to show-off what you are learning. Zoo-phonics is a successful learning program where children are off...reading, spelling and writing!"
